The African wild dog is a canine that is native to sub-saharan Africa. It is also known as the painted dog. It is one of the largest wild canines in Africa.

This species was classified as endangered in the ICUN Red List in 2012. The main threats to this species are habitat fragmentation, human interference, and disease.
